Happy Mother's Day, Tabby

As mothers we draw inspiration and ideas from many sources: our own mothers, sisters, and aunts, or perhaps a good parenting book, and even trial and error!  And every once in a while we find a magical friend who is so thoughtful and conscientious in her parenting that we can't help but want to be like her!  Please leave an idea given to you by Tabby, an inspiration that found you through Tabby's writing, or your admiration for the mother that Tabby is.  We have lots to admire in our friend's parenting!  Share, share!

Welcome

Welcome to the Friends of Tabby blog.  We are a group of women who are gathering in support of our dear friend, Tabby, who is in the process of recovering from multiple injuries sustained when she was hit by a car while out jogging.

Tabby is a courageous, thoughtful, funny, dedicated, loving and much-loved friend.  She is an inspiration to us as a woman, mother, and professional.  She faces months and months of rehabilitation and therapy, and her family has had to relocate out of state in order to be with her while she rebuilds her body and her life.

There are two main purposes for this blog:  (1) To help Tabby's family financially, and (2) to provide ongoing emotional support to Tabby (i.e., leave comments!  Lots of comments!)

You can find information on how to donate in the "Donate Now" section in the right column.  One hundred percent of donations will be turned over to Tabby and her family periodically as a group gift from "FriendsOfTabby"  in order to help defray her medical expenses and her family's living expenses.
Just to put our fundraising in perspective... Tabby's mother informed us that the driver who hit Tabby had only $50,000 in insurance coverage, which would not cover the costs of Tabby's first night in the hospital.  She faces a minimum of 6 months of intensive therapy.  She has had three surgeries so far, and there may be more.  Her husband had to quit his job and move their four-year old daughter to a new state so that they can be with Tabby.  They are facing uncertain and untold financial hurdles.  So we appreciate any help you can offer them, and thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

Please also consider this a guestbook or notebook of sorts, and leave comments for Tabby to read as she recovers.  Feel free to email a blog post even.  Tell us how you know Tabby, how she has impacted your life, why you love her.

Finally, a word on privacy.  In an effort to respect Tabby's privacy (and because she cannot yet speak for herself on this issue), we will not use her real name or family name.  We ask that you refrain from publishing any information that might reveal her identity, where she lives, her husband or child's name, etc.  We reserve the right to delete any material that contains any such personally identifying information.

Thank you, friends, for being here.  You are amazing -- as individuals, and as an incredibly caring and giving community.
